A Quiet Place: Day One is a prequel to John Krasinski's acclaimed 2018 film A Quiet Place, and it is directed by Michael Sarnoski. Ever since the movie was released, fans have been obsessed with the storyline and every little detail that they can get their hands on. The film is almost entirely silent, and it tells the whole story through action, clues, and a bit of American Sign Language. It follows a family in a post-apocalyptic situation where the world is controlled by extraterrestrial creatures called Death Angels. Currently, one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the movie is about the pinkish eggs in one of the scenes. Let's see what Sarnoski has to say on the matter.

A Quiet Place: Day One Pink Eggs Sarnoski's Explanation

According to Sarnoski, the pink eggs from A Quiet Place: Day One are there to show the audience that the aliens are feeding on people. Through this visual cue, it is implied that the aliens are growing their own food source, similar to farmers. The director wanted to use hints about the lore surrounding the aliens without necessarily having to spell everything out for the viewers.

Everyone was kind of open to new ideas. I think a big thing with these creatures was finding that balance if you don't want to over-explain them. Part of what's so fun about them is that they're very alien and we don't fully understand them.

Sarnoski also added that once you look at the pink, glassy liquid and the bodies in the pool, you will understand that the creatures are taking people and probably eating them, which is enough. The point of the pink eggs was to hint at the fact that the aliens are acting like farmers without making it too obvious.

A Quiet Place: Day One Expands & Slightly Contradicts the Quiet Place Universe

One of the scenes around the middle of A Quiet Place: Day One shows Eric leaving his refuge when Sam's cat escapes. Eric tries to save it by climbing up onto a construction beam, but he encounters a huge monster. Thankfully, he makes it out safely, but the most interesting part comes when the camera switches to show the alien feeding on a gooey, egg-like object. Apart from Sarnoski's explanation, the movie never offers anything that can help us find the meaning behind the scene.

One of the most important elements that the movie tries to establish is what levels of sound trigger an alien attack. It becomes clear that it's about contrast in decibels, and it's interesting to see how the ending of the first movie appears once again in A Quiet Place: Day One. Unfortunately, there are still some contradictions, such as the fact that Eric's loud sounds upon exiting the pool never trigger an alien attack. Although A Quiet Place: Day One expands the lore from the original story, scenes like this one definitely complicate the overall logic.
