AFK Journey: Season System Explained – All We Know So Far

The seasons are a system that the developers behind AFK Journey have stated that they wish to expand on, and it is the system that will become the main driver for the game as we know it.

With Seasons developers are hoping to create an environment where the game can continue being interesting and exciting even after a decade.

In this article, we’ll go over what the developers have planned for these seasons and how this impacts the players.

What are Seasons in AFK Journey

Season in AFK Journey will be a mechanic that will both expand on the main story of the game, while also giving players new things to do by allowing for both a permanent progression system, and a season progression system.

The developers have stated that while Season in AFK Journey will feature their own progress, such as Artifacts, Equipment, Resonance Level, and more, they will still maintain the permanent progression of players and will work to have a great balance between the two so that both F2P and paying users can enjoy the game equally.

Season Duration

Seasons are set to last about 4 months, and the first season will be released on the 42nd day after a server’s launch, meaning that each server will start playing the seasons at different times.

During these 4 months, players will be able to participate in Season activities that will earn them time-limited rewards and more.

Furthermore, the developers have stated that during these 4 months, there will be regular events that will incorporate the season system to keep things fresh and not tire players out.

Season Progression

As already stated, a Season in AFK Journey will have its own progression that is separated from the permanent progression in the game.

The developers have shared that we can expect the following from all seasons coming in the future:

Season Resonance Level: Resets every season

Season Hero Skills: Each hero gains 1 seasonal skill, only effective during the season. Unlocked after reaching Season Resonance Level 51.

Season Class Equipment: Resets every season

Season Artifact: 8 new Season Artifacts are introduced each season, obtainable through Season Journey and various game modes. They can only be used within the current season.

Magic Charms: Resets every season. Charms come in 5 different qualities. Collecting 3 Charms of the same quality will activate a hero's special ability. In the later stages of a season, you can customize your hero's stats by equipping different sets of Charms. This feature was designed to be easy to develop. Lilith Games

These new systems will give players a ton of new tools to play with and will bring a new layer of excitement to playing the game, which had grown stale due to the content in the game being somewhat stagnant.

Season are sure to bring a new layer of excitement to the game and expand on the already nicely made features. Given that each season will last 4 months it is interesting to see how the developers behind AFK Journey will keep the content fresh and keep it from growing boring fast, as with the case in most other idle games.

Furthermore, the feature known as the Temporal Nexus which will allow players to replay the seasons even after their duration is over is a great touch to allow newer players to participate and experience the full content of the game, albeit without all of the rewards.

All in all, Seasons are shaping up to be quite interesting and we can’t see how Devsisters will handle them in AFK Journey.
