Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Reviews Are In... Is It Worth Playing?

A Gem for Avatar Fans:

The overwhelming majority of positive reviews arrive, unsurprisingly, from fans of James Cameron's Avatar IP. Frontiers of Pandora succeeds, for most, in being the single best simulation of Na'vi life on Pandora that exists. Whether it's stealing a closer look at Na'vi culture, taming your Ikran, or savouring the vast array of fauna and flora that populate the world, Frontiers of Pandora has it covered.

Steven Mills of Destructoid, rating the game a 9/10, said:

If you walked away from Avatar wishing a world like Pandora actually existed out there, here you go. This is that world. Seeing Pandora is one thing, but being able to scale its massive treetops, soar high above its floating mountains on an Ikran, and traverse its wide open plains on the back of a Direhorse is really something special.

VideoGamer's Antony Terence scored the game a 8/10, writing:

A 'Reskinned Far Cry' to Some Reviewers:

Ubisoft's formula for development, as seen in the gameplay patterns of just about every Far Cry game, are evidently present in Avatar: FoP. To some, this familiarity is a welcome comfort in the alien world of Pandora. However, to others, the repeated patterns of cyclical combat and assaulting outposts are a disappointment. Most less flattering reviewers appear to have been hopeful for more innovation.

Filip Kraucher of INDIANTVCZ, with a review score of 4/10, said:

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora held all the cards and, at least from our perspective, squandered them all. This reskinned Far Cry is a mediocrity gallery reflecting the current AAA production stuck in the last decade.

Dani Cross of GGRecon, having scored the game a 3/5, also criticized FoP's lack of innovation:

I love the world, but barriers blocked me from fully immersing myself in it, and it’s littered with activities and outposts plucked straight out of the 2010s and planted in Pandora’s soil.
