Baldur's Gate 3 Wins Game Of The Year 2023

After three hours filled with nothing but world premiere trailers for upcoming games, award speeches by some of the biggest names in the industry, the prestigious 'Game of the Year' award was finally handed out, and the winner was Baldur's Gate 3. Here is everything you need to know about the culmination of The Game Awards 2023:

While this was an expected result for a lot fans, many still had the hopes of Alan Wake 2 or Tears of the Kingdom providing an upset right at the end of the show. The award was presented by renowned actor Timothée Chalamet (Dune), after a big orchestral arrangement that blended together the themes of all of the nominated games. 

Swen Vincke, the game director of Baldur's Gate 3, came up to the podium to accept the award in a suit of armor, similar to how he presented the BG3 Panel From Hell patches during the early access phase of the game.

It's no wonder Baldur's Gate 3 won game of the year. The game is filled with relatable and rich characters, beautiful landscapes, amazing dialogue and the intricate D&D system married with Larian's approach to systematic freedom.
