The mobile gacha gaming market has been growing fast for some years now. With giants like Genshin Impact, Arknights, Fate Grand Order and others bringing light to the industry, the gacha gaming market is only continuing to grow and 2023 was no exception. With 2023 coming to an end it is time to look at some of the great games we got this year!

Best Gacha Games of 2023

Honkai: Star Rail

The first, and probably, most notable release of 2023 has to be Honkai Star Rail. HoYoverse’s newest cross-platform gacha game that took the world by storm since its release in April of 2023. Honkai Star Rail’s success even led to the game winning the Best Mobile Game Award of 2023, so it is no wonder it is on this list. Honkai Star Rail’s polished gameplay, diverse cast of characters, and controvertail, but still fun story and constant quality update certainly make it stand out.

Aether Gazer

Another big release of 2023 has to be the global version of Aether Gazer, a 3D Sci-fi Themed Anime ARPG that allows the players to control three characters, or as the game calls them Modifies, by switching between them and making some sick combos. Aether Gazer seems similar to games like Punishing Gray Raven and Honkai Impact 3rd with its fast action combat and satisfying gameplay. And last but not least, Aether Gazer is a generous game, offering its players a lot of free currency to allow them to pull for any character they like, without needing to spend.

Reverse: 1999

Yet another release that took the gacha gaming market by surprise is without a doubt Reverse: 1999. A turn-based tactical role-playing video game developed by Bluepoch. The game was released globally on October 26, 2023 and has since seen a lot of growth with millions of downloads and constant praise from the gacha gaming community. Its character leveling system is reminiscent of Alchemy Stars, having the players unlock a character’s potential (or Insight) a total of three times, with each potential having separate character levels. Its game loop, in turn, follows games like The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, giving players cards with skills and having them think how to best utilize them to win. And even if you aren't a fan of this system, the game recently added an auto play mode, so you’re set to go. It’s definitely a game worth checking out!

Black Clover M

Last but not least we have the newest game of the mobile gacha game lineup. It is none other than Black Clover Mobile, or Black Clover M for short. It launched globally on November 30th, stirring a lot of waves throughout the community. It allows players to roam the world of Black Clover and its Clover Kingdom, while giving them the chance to play with their favorite characters from the Black Clover Anime. The gameplay centers around turn-based combat, giving players a lot of choices to mix and match teams and builds to make the most optimal setup. The game is constantly putting out new updates and changing banners, so it will surely continue being fresh and fun to play for a long time.

Upcoming Gacha Games in 2024 and How to Pre-Register

With the huge releases of 2023, we are ending off the year on a good note, and hopefully setting the pace for the gacha game releases of 2024. Some games that we can look forward to are:

Wuthering Waves

An Open World ARPG developed by Kurogames, the developers of Punishing: Gray Raven. Wuthering Waves will try to follow the steps of Genshin Impact while, in turn, build upon Kurogames’ amazing abilities in building fast-paced action games. At the moment the game’s strengths lie in its action combat and fun exploration. It is set to launch sometime in 2024.

Solo Leveling: Arise

Developed by netmarble, Solo Leveling: Arise is an ARPG set in the world of the Solo Leveling manhwa, allowing players to play their favorite characters from the series while enjoying a ton of fast-paced action. The game is set to launch in the Spring of 2024 and you can pre-register for the game on the link below.

Zenless Zone Zero

HoYoverse’s new game and a take on the instance-based ARPG genre, following the success of their other ARPG game: Honkai Impact 3rd. Zenless Zone Zero is set to launch some time in 2024, and given their second beta test is currently on-going, we probably will not have to wait much.
