Yes, Batman does die in Suicide Squad: KTJL. He is killed by Harley Quinn, here's how:

The Suicide Squad travels to an alternative reality, Earth 2, where they meet another version of Lex Luthor. It turns out Lex Luthor 1 and Lex Luthor 2 have been working together for a while. Lex Luthor 2 thinks Superman's DNA has been changed, so he's more resistant to Kryptonite, and he sends off the Suicide Squad to capture Batman for more information. Thanks to him, they develop Gold Kryptonite to which Superman has no resistance. After Lex Luthor is done developing the new Kryptonite, he has no use for Batman, so Harley Quinn ends up shooting him.

Harley has a speech moments before killing him, telling Batman he has never been able to hurt people with his words like Joker did (bear in mind the Joker she's talking about is dead in the Arkham universe). However, she accuses Batman of hurting emotionally and mentally everyone around him. Of course, that's an odd thing to say about someone who spared Harley's life throughout the whole Arkham series.

  • Batman's portrayal is Kevin Conroy's last role ever, as he passed away in November 2022.

Community Reactions

As expected, DC fans aren't happy with Batman's death. It is incredibly sad to watch the main character in the Arkham Series go in such a way. Some even call this a disrespectful and sad end to a character who doesn't deserve it. Harley Quinn judging Batman for the emotional damage he has done to her makes no sense. Yes, if you think about it, this is related to Bat's complicated relationship with Joker and the toll it took on her, but otherwise, the superhero hasn't done anything wrong by trying to stop the criminals.

Some see Batman's death as revenge for what happened to the Joker. However, Harley states that they were not on good terms a few times, so this probably isn't the case, similar to her current development in the DC Universe.

Is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Canon?
