How To Get The Stone-Sheathed Sword In Shadow of the Erdtree?
The Sword of Light and the Sword of Darkness are extremely powerful weapons, but they can be very difficult to find. You have to first acquire the Stone-Sheathed Sword and then follow a few more steps to get your desired items. There are three Altars in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, where you can spot the Stone-Sheathed Sword. Once you pick it up from one of the Altars, it will disappear from the other two.
Fog Rift Catacombs
The easiest Altar to reach is in the Fog Rift Catacombs. Cross the Ensis Greatbridge and follow the path northwest from the Castle Front Site of Grace. You'll soon see the entrance. There are three sets of spike traps inside. When you stand on the edge to bait the traps, you'll notice a hole. Don't be afraid to jump in; it will transport you to a higher platform. Jump off the ledge, then turn around to perform the baiting trick again to get on top of the spike platform. The final destination is in the right corner of the room, where you will see a secret area - the Altar of Light and Darkness, which you can loot to get the Stone-Sheathed Sword.
Ruins of Unte
The second Altar is located inside the Ruins of Unte in Scadu Altus. Pass through the main gate of the Shadow Keep and stop at the bottom of the stairs guarded by the Fire Knight. Next to the boats guarded by Vulgar Militiamen, you'll see a ladder that leads to a waterfall. Pass through and follow the path to a room with the Domain of Dragons painting. A secret passage will be revealed once you hit the right wall, and it will lead you to a stone coffin that will transport you to the Castle Watering Hole in Scadu Altus below the Shadow Keep. Right below are the Ruins of Unte. Lob a Hefty Furnace Pot inside the basket of the dead Furnace Golem, turn slightly to the right, and you'll see an Altar of Light and Darkness.
Rauh Ancient Ruins
The final Altar is located in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, which you can access through Shadow Keep. Head through the Living Jar area and use the bridge to go west toward your desired location. Progress through the ruins and beyond the Furnace Golem to reach the Rauh Ancient Ruins West Site of Grace. Walk southwest until you reach a staircase that will lead you into the garden to the north. Cross the garden to enter the rotted area of ruins. Turn right and walk until you get to an outdoor ledge. The bridge isn't broken; it's invisible. Cross it, and you'll find the final Altar of Light and Darkness.

How To Get The Sword of Light in Elden Ring DLC?
Now that you have the Stone-Sheathed Sword, you can transform it into the Sword of Light, a more powerful and unique version of the same weapon that scales primarily with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith, and it has a Holy Damage skill called Light. Take the Stone-Sheathed Sword to an unused Altar of Light and Darkness, and interact with the Altar.
It's important to note that you cannot use the same spot where you found the sword in the first place. You will get a prompt that will ask you whether you would like to raise the Stone-Sheathed Sword to the light. Click Yes, and the weapon will transform into the Sword of Light. This is how you get one of the most powerful secret weapons in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.

How To Get The Sword of Darkness in Elden Ring DLC?
The final form of the Stone-Sheathed Sword is the Sword of Darkness. It's very similar to the Sword of Light; it has the same scaling, attacks, and Holy Damage, but it differs in its unique skill, which is called Darkness. It spews forth clouds of darkness that deal huge damage. Take the Sword of Light to the final unused Altar of Light and Darkness in the Land of Shadow and transform it by repeating the previous steps of interacting with the Altar.
If you would like to switch back to the Sword of Light, you can do so by simply revisiting the Altar that you used to get the Sword of Light in the first place. The same method works for going back to the Sword of Darkness. This way, you can use both swords depending on your needs in a specific situation.
