Enshrouded: 10 Beginner Tips and Tricks

Enshrouded is the latest co-op survival game that has already won the hearts of many players. Despite being in Early Access, the vast amount of content and quality has set a precedent for this game to succeed. 

While exploring the enticing realm of Embervale, you will face many challenges, quests, and enemies. You will uncover many secrets throughout your playthrough as the game offers a lot of content given its unfinished state.

Tip #1: Craft a Grappling Hook and Glider

Given the incredibly large world of Enshrouded, players might find themselves wondering what to prioritize first. Since the environment in Enshrouded offers multiple ways of traversing the terrain, a Grappling Hook and Glider are a must-have.

You will need both items not only to travel faster in Enshrouded but also to gain access to important sections in Vaults or solve puzzles. 

Tip #2: Use a Wand 

Early-game combat can be quite tricky as you will not have access to strong weapons. Although there is a variety of ways you can approach fighting enemies, you will surely benefit from using a Wand. Ranged combat can be very beneficial to your success as damaging enemies from a distance can decide the outcome of your fight.

Ranged weapons in Enshrouded have a limited supply of ammunition with Staves and Bows requiring projectiles in your inventory. Wands however differ as they only lose durability so make sure to abuse them to secure yourself some easy encounters.

Tip #3: Repair Your Gear

Durability is interesting in Enshrouded with most games requiring materials to repair items, however, in this game, it is rather easy to maintain your gear. Your items have a durability bar that shows when your gear will break. 

To repair equipment, simply interact with a Workbench and you will have all of your items repaired free of charge. You can also find Anvils spread across Embervale that might save your life as you can use them to repair gear as well.

Tip #4: Make Use of Food Buffs

Many players might overlook the buffs you can get, however, you can easily get a hold of some beneficial stat increases that will make your gameplay much more enjoyable. 

One of the most crucial things you can do is cook your food as not only do you get a stronger buff but the duration is also increased making it more beneficial. 

Tip #5: Unlock All of the Survivors

At the time of writing, Enshrouded has 5 important NPCs you will need to save so you can unlock valuable recipes and items that will help you explore more of the world. All of them provide beneficial items and recipes so the sooner you save them, the easier you will progress.

• The Blacksmith - Armor, Workshops, Tools (Glider, Grappling Hook)
• The Alchemist - Potions, Elixirs, Staff Charges (Spells)
• The Hunter - Backpack, Arrows, Armor Sets
• The Carpenter - Decoration, Magic Chests, Upgrades
• The Farmer - Food, Seeds 

Tip #6: Use your Journal and Quest Log

Enshrouded does not hold your hand so you will need to discover the many secrets in Embervale but luckily you have your trusted Journal with you. This feature allows you to track important quests as they are color-coded based on their importance in the game.

• Gold Quests - You can treat them as main quests as they offer insight into upgrading your Base and navigating the Shroud.
• Blue Quests - These quests aid you in progressing the skills and abilities of your NPCs.
• Grey Quests - These are lore-related quests if you would like to find out more about the forgotten realm.

Tip #7: Explore Shrouds As Much As Possible

It can seem daunting at first as Shrouded areas have a timer mechanic that gives you a limited amount of time to explore and face enemies. However, you should not be afraid as the areas themselves hold valuable resources and materials you can use to become stronger.

Some mechanics allow you to survive longer in the Shroud, such as using glowing Hourglasses and destroying Shroud Roots both increase the time you can spend in these dangerous zones. 

Tip #8: Fast Travel is Your Friend

Although it might be tedious to unlock all of the Fast Travel Points, you will make your life easier by having access to key points in Embervale so you can easily locate important items and progress in the game.

Not only can you carry materials for a Flame Altar on you but you can also unlock the Ancient Spires by completing a dungeon full of traps and puzzles.

Tip #9: Destroy the Terrain and Structures

What separates Enshrouded from other survival games is that you can destroy the terrain in the world so you can either gain access to higher areas or dig your way out of a difficult situation. 

Oftentimes, exploring in Enshrouded can be done in multiple ways as you might also stumble upon hidden treasures that hold amazing equipment so if you see something worth destroying, give it a go and you might be surprised by what you find.

Tip #10: Read Books, Scrolls, and Lore Pages

Enshrouded awards exploration and taking the time to read valuable sources of information. Although the game does not offer any general tips, you will find it useful to read books and scrolls you happen to find during your journey.
