Final Fantasy XIV: New Data Center and Dawntrail Jobs

Square Enix has started doing preparations for the new Dawntrail expansion and it seems like they're expecting a large player flood from Europe once it is released.

New European Logical Data Center and Worlds

In preparation for Dawtrail, Final Fantasy XIV's team has announced the release of a new data center for Europe called Shadow. This will be added to the selection menu with the following maintenance next Tuesday, May 7th but will remain inaccessible until the actual launch of the server. Players who try to enter the data center before that will just receive an error.

FFXIV's team mentioned they'll be monitoring the number of concurrent logins to determine the opening date of Shadow Data Center Worlds. The date itself will be announced later.

Upcoming Job-Related News For Final Fantasy XIV 

Final Fantasy XIV's team has also announced the next live stream where they'll be taking a first look at job-related updates for Dawntrail.

This will be quite exciting as we'll get a sneak peek at what the current jobs will look like in the next expansion. The stream will be held on Thursday, May 16th, 2024 at 4 am (PDT). You can catch it on YouTube, Niconico Live, or Twitch. Stay tuned, as we'll be covering all of the upcoming news.

Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail New Jobs

Square Enix have some job-related news coming up which means we might also get a better look at how the two new jobs, Viper and Pictomancer, work. Both jobs are in the DPS role and look like they have some unique mechanics that we haven't seen before.

The Viper will be sharing gear with the Ninja, they'll wear armor "of Scouting" and accessories "of Aiming". Their weapon is the twin blades, which can do swift strikes or be combined into a joined weapon for mightier blows.

Since the Pictomancer is a disciple of magic they will require armor "of Casting", similar to other jobs in this role. Their weapon is going to be the brush which is one of the more interesting choices so far. They will be able to make anything they can imagine into reality. Both creatures, weapons, as well as landscapes will be brought into existence by this magic user.
