During its Gamescom 2023 announcements, Nvidia revealed that the immensely popular free-to-play battle royale game from Epic Games will soon incorporate the cutting-edge DLSS 3 technology. This isn't the first instance of Nvidia integrating DLSS advancements into Fortnite; back in 2020, the company introduced DLSS 2 support.

DLSS 3, launched alongside the GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080 graphics cards last year, stands as an AI-driven performance enhancer capable of augmenting frame rates in supported games by up to four times their previous levels. Regrettably, DLSS 3 remains exclusive to the RTX 40 series graphics cards, rendering RTX 20 and 30 owners ineligible to experience Fortnite with DLSS 3.

In addition to Fortnite, Nvidia's DLSS 3 is also set to revolutionize other titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, PayDay 3, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and Alan Wake 2. The latter two, alongside Portal RTX, are even slated to integrate DLSS 3.5, the newest iteration of Nvidia's technology.

Notably, DLSS 3.5 introduces an innovative feature known as Ray Reconstruction, designed to elevate the quality of ray-traced images for RTX 40 series GPUs. This involves the replacement of hand-crafted denoisers with AI networks trained on Nvidia's supercomputers, leading to the creation of higher-quality pixels and an enhanced visual experience.
