Although the release of GTA 6 has been the hottest topic for a long time now, GTA 5 is still number one in the charts. The game hasn't stopped selling since its release in 2013 and the sales numbers are still increasing. GTA 5 has now officially surpassed 200 million copies sold and this number is expected to grow in the next few months.
Those who want to continue playing GTA 5 will have to get their own copy of the game since it will be leaving PlayStation Plus on June 18, 2024.
GTA 5 has been available on PlayStation Plus since December 2023, and players with PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium have been able to enjoy the Story Mode without actually owning the game. Fans expressed their surprise on various platforms, stating that even the short-term titles on the service tend to stay for at least a year, while GTA 5 is leaving after only six months.
Thankfully, we still have some good news left to share. GTA 5 Online can now be bought separately and it costs half as much as the full game on PS5. Although it isn't ideal, it's still better than having to buy the entire game, especially if you're planning on playing only GTA 5 Online.

To compensate for the removal of GTA 5, PlayStation has now added Cat Quest, Tunic, and Watch Dogs to the Extra Library this month. The cherry on top was the inclusion of Red Dead Redemption 2 to the list of games in PlayStation Plus.
Gamers suspect that GTA 5's removal from the platform is simply business and nothing more - Rockstar Games seems to not want both of their biggest games being available on a subscription service at the same time.
