Supergiant Games, known for the hit game Hades, surprised fans with a gameplay stream for its sequel, Hades 2. The stream gave fans a detailed look at new features, characters, abilities, and other exciting elements coming in the upcoming game. Let's see what they have in plan for the upcoming Hades 2.

Hades 2 Technical Test Stream Teased New Gameplay

In the gameplay stream for Hades 2, fans noticed its strong resemblance to the original prequel. It has the same roguelike gameplay style with stunning visuals and the familiar home base, The Crossroads.

The stream's primary focus was on Princess of the Underworld Melinoe, the new protagonist, and sister of Zagreus from the first game. Melinoe brings a whole new set of skills to the table that really makes her stand out from her brother.

Her base weapon, the Witch's Staff, allows for both melee and magic attacks, granting her greater crowd control capabilities. Additionally, she can unleash powerful "Omega" spell attacks with a new resource called Magick, delivering devastating area-of-effect damage.

Additional Boons in Hades 2

In the recent stream, Supergiant Games also revealed Sister Blades, a set of close-range swords, alongside the Witch's Staff. These blades pack some powerful moves, like teleportation and an area-of-effect knife throw.

In the technical test, these are the only weapons available, but the developers confirmed that Hades 2 will eventually feature six different weapons, each with its own unique style to suit different players.

The Boon system now includes more gods and updated abilities designed for Melinoe's style of play. Players witnessed Boons from newcomers like Apollo and returning gods like Demeter, offering various enhancements such as increased double hits, freeze effects, and Magick restoration.

New Characters and Story Glimpses in Hades 2 Technical Test Stream

In addition to the gameplay showcase, the stream introduced several new characters and provided sneak peeks of the game's narrative.

Hecate takes on the role of mentor to Melinoe at the Crossroads hub area. Alongside them, there are new characters like Dora, Nemesis, and Odysseus added to the game. Meanwhile, old favorites like Hypnos and Charon return, sporting new updated designs.

Hades 2 Technical Test Details

Supergiant Games announced that the Hades 2 technical test will last between one week and one month, but the exact duration hasn't been determined yet. The developers plan to launch the game's early access version as soon as possible after the technical test ends.
