The long-awaited expansion of Hearthstone - Whizbang's Workshop was released a few days ago on March 19, 2024, and delivered 145 new cards to the players. We met a lot of new faces but some cards are revisited versions of some well-known cards from previous years. In this article, we will look into all new Death Knight cards and explain their flavor texts.
As you may know, every card in Hearthstone has its own "flavor" text which is a specific pun, reference, or joke related to the art or the name of the card. Some "serious" cards have a deeper flavor text that might reveal more about the lore or set the tone of the character. You can see this flavor text when you click on a card in your "My Collection" tab in the game.

Shambling Zombietank
- Rarity: Common
- Race: Mechanical, Undead
- Flavor text: Spidertank in shambles.
- Flavor text explanation: This flavor is actually a reference to the neutral minion "Spider Tank" from the Goblins vs Gnomes set. The text suggests funnily that this well-known minion has fallen into despair.
Rambunctious Stuffy
- Rarity: Common
- Race: Animated Object, Undead Beast
- Flavor text: The Lich King can't sleep without his stuffy.
- Flavor text explanation: This one is pretty straightforward and funny. Imagine the fearsome and all-mighty Lich King having a cute stuffed toy by his side when he goes to sleep.
Darkthorn Quilter
- Rarity: Common
- Race: Quilboar, Undead
- Flavor text: Still mad about not being let into the spiders' sewing club.

Lesser Spinel Spellstone
- Rarity: Rare
- Flavor text: A story concluded, the kobolds had fought
Yet here is a spellstone Azari forgot
Pawned off to shops, considered a trinket
Dark powers contained, none would think it - Flavor text explanation: This poetic flavor delves into the tale of a mysterious yet seemingly significant figure named Azari, who had overlooked a specific spell - the Lesser Spinel Spellstone. This item has found its way to a random store, forgotten by everyone. However, the flavor text hints at its immense power, which remains hidden because it has been overlooked.
Threads of Despair
- Rarity: Rare
- Flavor text: Mom, I frew up...
- Flavor text explanation: This text points out the theme of the Death Knight cards in this set which is mostly related to sewing. It shows the difficulty of a young Death Knight in trying to thread threads masterfully which instead resulted in them throwing up.
Amateur Puppeteer
- Rarity: Rare
- Race: Forsaken
- Flavor text: "I'm a real toy!"
- Flavor text explanation: What we see happening in the art is the Amateur Puppeteer controlling a small skeleton doll. The flavor text is the words that the Puppeteer is saying while pretending that it is the doll that declares its real existence.

Silk Stitching
- Rarity: Epic
- Race: Beast
- Flavor text: The slogan of their very exclusive sewing club is "You can't stitch with us."
- Flavor text explanation: You remember Darkthorn Quilter's card? That's right. This is the spider's sewing club that rejected him.
Rainbow Seamstress
- Rarity: Epic
- Race: Gnome, Undead
- Flavor text: Is this card any good? It would seam sew.
- Flavor text explanation: This flavor text uses clever sewing terms as wordplay by saying "seam sew" instead of "seem so". On another note, she doesn't have a rune requirement which makes her good for any Death Knight deck, henceforth the "Rainbow" in her name.
Dr. Stitchensew
- Rarity: Legendary
- Race: Forsaken
- Flavor text: First, do some harm.
- Flavor text explanation: This flavor refers to the real Hippocratic Oath that every doctor has to take before beginning his nursing work. The first saying in this oath is "First, do no harm". As a doctor himself, Dr. Stitchensew has a different oath that he follows which stands for the exact opposite of the Hippocratic Oath one's. Stay away from that creepy tailor!

The Headless Horseman
- Rarity: Legendary
- Race: Undead
- Flavor text: This flavor text, you would expect
to rhyme and reference, to great effect!
It starts out strong, but as you can tell
it doesn't end very good. - Flavor text explanation: In World of Warcraft, there is a holiday called Hallow's End, which mirrors the real world's Halloween. The central figure of this event is none other than The Headless Horseman. He always speaks in rhymes, as evidenced at the beginning of his flavor text. As a self-aware joke, the flavor text concludes without a rhyme, humorously commenting on itself as "not very good."
