The long-awaited expansion of Hearthstone - Whizbang's Workshop was released a few days ago on March 19, 2024, and delivered 145 new cards to the players. We met a lot of new faces but some cards are revisited versions of some well-known cards from previous years. In this article, we will look into the ten new Demon Hunter cards and explain their flavor texts.
As you may know, every card in Hearthstone has its own "flavor" text which is a specific pun, reference, or joke related to the art or the name of the card. Some "serious" cards have a deeper flavor text that might reveal more about the lore or set the tone of the character. You can see this flavor text when you click on a card in your "My Collection" tab in the game.
Make sure to check out our explanation articles for each card class in Whizbang's Workshop! Now let's begin!

Blind Box
- Rarity: Common
- Flavor text: THREE Flame Imps?? C'mon, where's my pity timer?!
- Flavor text explanation: Blind Box's flavor text refers to the Card Packs in Hearthstone. Flame Imp is a Common card and the text is implying annoyance in how the speaker wants to get a rarer card already. In the art, we can see a gacha box which is a direct reference to Card Packs as well.
Umpire's Grasp
- Rarity: Common
- Flavor text: PENALTY - FEL BALL!
- Flavor text explanation: This is a clever reference to baseball where you can receive a penalty "foul ball". Instead of saying "foul" we have "fel" which is also referred to in the art where we can see a baseball glove covered in fel.
Ball Hog
- Rarity: Common
- Race: Quilboar
- Flavor text: "There's no hog in team... ANYMORE! I QUIT!"
- Flavor text explanation: There are two sports references in this flavor text. One is in the name "Ball Hog" which in sports terms means someone who doesn't pass the ball. There is also a reference to the famous saying "There is no I in team".

Lesser Opal Spellstone
- Rarity: Rare
- Flavor text: For those seeking glory and power
Be not swayed by Azari the Devourer
The opal grants victory to the weak
But leaves your soul barren and bleak - Flavor text explanation: In World of Warcraft Demon Hunters and Warlocks use a type of magic called "fel". What is specific about this type of magic is that even though it grants you great power it drains away your soul and life force as seen in the last two lines. The green opal references this magic type.
Spirit of the Team
- Rarity: Rare
- Race: Ghost, Night Elf
- Flavor text: Horrible call! BOOOOoo00oO0o0OO0oo0oO!
- Flavor text explanation: This flavor text is pretty simple. "Spirit of the Team" is a famous sports term that describes the emotions and cultures of a sports club. In the card art, we see a literal spirit which is a clever wordplay and the flavor text mocks the way fans chant.
Workshop Mishap
- Rarity: Rare
- Race: Night Elf
- Flavor text: IT HAS BEEN [0] DAYS SINCE LAST ACCIDENT.
- Flavor text explanation: This flavor text gives us a humorous take on the famous trope of "X Days since the last accident".

Red Card
- Rarity: Epic
- Race: Ered'ruin, Night Elf
- Flavor text: Finally, Demon Hunter has expanded its color palette to TWO colors!
- Flavor text explanation: This is yet another sports reference to football where a red card puts a player out of play for a few matches. We also have a self-irony from Blizzard as they mock the fact that a Demon Hunter's color palette is only green.
Window Shopper
- Rarity: Epic
- Race: Shivarra
- Flavor text: OMG THAT'S LITERALLY ME!
- Flavor text explanation: This is a clever joke about the Miniaturize mechanic. The demon lady we see in the art sees the "miniature figure" of herself and excitedly exclaims "OMG THAT'S LITERALLY ME!". The name "Window Shopper" humorously suggests that she is not going to buy the figure despite her excitement.
Ci'Cigi
- Rarity: Legendary
- Race: Sporeling
- Flavor text: She once bought a 1of1 Golden Skull of Gul'dan written entirely in Thalassian for 2,000,000 Gold.
- Flavor text explanation: From the flavor text and card effect, Ci'Cigi is painted as a devoted Demon Hunter Card collector. The card effect makes a joke about the common term "Mint" which in collector terms means in pristine condition.

Magtheridon, Unreleased
- Rarity: Legendary
- Race: Annihilan, Mechanical
- Flavor text: Playing with this card can be penalized with up to a two-year suspension. Please wait until the card is officially released.
- Flavor text explanation: The flavor text makes a clever joke about the name of the card. Despite "unreleased" meaning "unchained" in the context of the character, the flavor text makes a self-aware joke that it is just a card that's not released yet.
