Helldivers 2: How to Complete the New Automaton Defense Mission

With the unexpected return of the Automaton faction, Arrowhead Game Studios has added a brand new defense mission in Helldivers 2. This new mission is called 'Evacuate High-Value Assets,' and it can only be found on 'Defense Campaign' planets on the western portion of the map. Being able to consistently complete this mission will allow you to get a ton of Medals, since these defense operations are likely to remain in the game for the foreseeable future.

While the 'Evacuate High-Value Assets' mission is not as hard as the personnel version that was previously added, it might still prove challenging to some players. In this article, we are going to show you how the mission works and how you can complete it without any issues.

Helldivers 2: How to Complete the Evacuate High-Value Assets Mission

The 'Evacuate High-Value Assets' mission has a 20-minute timer before extraction begins, and Helldivers are tasked with defending two generators while constant Bot Drops land nearby. These missions are currently only available in Defense Campaigns on the Automaton front, and they award a standard amount of Medals depending on the difficulty you have selected. Preparing Your Defenses

Once you land on the planet, you can either choose to interact with the Terminal and start the mission straight away, or you can wait a few moments to prepare your defenses. The unique part of the 'Evacuate High-Value Assets' mission is that there are huge walls surrounding your base with doors that you can interact with to open and close. Around the base, you will also be able to find some HMG Emplacements which can be used to stop the first few waves of enemies before the battle becomes more intense.

Once you start the mission, we recommend calling down your Stratagems so you are ready for the first Bot Drops that will start to appear. We also recommend bringing and planting down some Sentries, as you are going to be holding your ground for the entire mission. Make sure to also drop and destroy a Supply Pod, as the ammunition will remain on the ground indefinitely.

Defend the Generators

The main objective of the mission is to stall the enemy forces until 8 Rockets are launched. There are only 2 ways of failing this mission: running out of reinforcements (lives) or having your generators destroyed. There are two generators in your base, and you can tell how 'healthy' they are by the color of their lights. They go from green to yellow to red, indicating how close they are to being destroyed. Make sure to take fights further away from the generators so they are not damaged by the Automaton firearms.

The Bot Drops typically land in the same few spots every time, so once you see where that region of the map is, plan accordingly and deal as much damage before they reach the main base. We recommend bringing an EAT-17 or a Quasar Cannon, so you can destroy some of the Dropships before they are able to bring in more enemies.

Extraction

Once the Rockets have been launched, extraction will begin, and similar to other defense missions, it will be instant. Wait a few seconds, and the Shuttle will land, allowing you to complete the mission and be awarded for your outstanding patriotism.
