Helldivers 2 Update Today: New HMG & Quasar Cannon Weapons Added

The global campaign in Helldivers 2 rages on, with players around the world continuing to liberate planets against the Automaton and Terminid forces. While we don't know where the story is going to be headed, what we do know is that Arrowhead Game Studios love adding some new toys for us to play around with based on our progress in the campaign. A few weeks ago, players were rewarded with the Patriot Exosuit Stratagem for their victory against the Automaton forces on Tien Kwan, and we were wondering when the next of these unlocks was going to happen.

Today, Arrowhead Game Studios has added two new support weapon Stratagems to the game in the MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun and LAS-99 Quasar Cannon. Here is everything you need to know about the latest Helldivers 2 update!

Helldivers 2 Update Today: New Support Weapons Added

The latest Helldivers 2 update is not an actual patch, as all of the new additions to the game were already in the files and Arrowhead just "unlocked" them for the player base. These additions are the new MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun and LAS-99 Quasar Cannon support weapons, which have been deployed to help with the ongoing war against the Automatons. You will be able to find both of these weapons for purchase in the "Stratagem" menu of your ship, with a new operation modifier also adding them to some of the planets. Here are both of the new Helldivers 2 support weapons that have been added to the game:

MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun

We already had light and medium machine gun Stratagems in the game, and now we finally have a heavy option as well. The MG-206 Heavy Machine Gun can now be found in the "Patriotic Administration Center" section of the "Stratagem Menu," and you will be able to purchase it for 6,000 Requisition Slips. The Heavy Machine Gun has the exact same call-in time, uses, and cooldown as the light and medium options.

LAS-99 Quasar Cannon

The more interesting option of the two is the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon, which can charge up a powerful energy blast from long ranges. The description of the weapon states that it "has a long cooldown period after firing," which hopefully means that it deals quite a bit of damage. The LAS-99 Quasar Cannon can now be found in the "Engineering Bay" section of the "Stratagem Menu," and you will be able to purchase it for 7,500 Requisition Slips.
