Kaiju No. 8 Episode 12 Finale: Release Date, Where to Watch

Kaiju No. 8 Episode 11: Recap and Review

We were all anticipating the moment when Kafka would reveal his identity as Kaiju No. 8, but it might have come earlier than we thought. In Episode 11, we saw the Defense Force Council discuss what should be done with Kaiju No. 8, and things don't look good for Kafka. He is now transported to the HQ's facilities, where he will be thoroughly examined.

Thinking that everyone, including Ichikawa, is mad at him, Kafka shamefully walks to the truck that is taking him away. However, Reno himself gives him some last words of assurance, which leave Kafka stunned. Not only that, but after getting into the van, Kafka and Mina have some alone time, during which she tells him that everyone in the Third Division is on his side but can't show it in front of the cameras. Furthermore, she tells him that he can still try to fight on her side. This wholesome moment relieves Kafka and gives him the hope he needs in this difficult situation.

Captain Mina Ashido tells Reno, Furuhashi, Aoi, and Haruichi that they are getting transferred to different divisions. Although Haruichi suspects this is because the Defense Force wants to monitor them due to their close relationships with Kafka, Mina assures them that there is another reason. With the attacks of Kaiju No. 9 and Kaiju No. 10 in such a short time span, there is a high risk of more Daikaiju appearing at the same time. More forces are needed to support the other divisions.

Everyone is trying to help Kafka in some way and prove his innocence. Shinomiya tries to talk with her father and asks for Kafka to be spared. However, her father, the Director General, accuses her of being naive and shows her a scan of Kafka's body, revealing that instead of a heart, he has the core of a Kaiju. Although she is taken aback, she continues to vouch for Kafka.

We then see Kafka locked up and regularly examined. His imprisonment takes a turn when Director Shinomiya enters the facility where he is trapped. The Director starts provoking Kafka by hitting him, but the main character is determined to remain in his human form. However, Kafka can no longer do that as the Director turns on armor made from the very strong Kaiju No. 2, becoming the strongest rival Kafka has ever battled.

 Despite his efforts, Kafka cannot evade the attacks and turns into his full Kaiju No. 8 form. However, this time it's different. It happened against his will, and he seems to have no control over his body. Even Shinomiya, who is watching the fight, senses that something is wrong and starts questioning Kafka's humanity. The episode ends with Kafka's mind being trapped by the Kaiju he ate, which tries to make him spill blood. Will Kafka be able to regain control?
