Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - What We Know So Far

Kingdom Come: Deliverance was famous for being one of the most difficult RPGs in recent years. Made by Warhorse Studios, the original game sold over 6 million copies and built a cult fanbase. Now that the sequel is coming we can expect to see the return of our favorite character, Henry.

For 6 years, we have been waiting to hear that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is on the way and now it has finally happened, we can celebrate. We are going to be returning to medieval Bohemia to continue Henry’s story. When Warhorse Studios released the original, they had a team of 11 people in a small office. Now their team is over 250 strong. We can only guess how much better Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be.

When Will We Be Seeing Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?

While we do not have an exact date for the release, Warhorse Studios has said that it should be coming this year in a recent announcement. The trailer that announced Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 only stated that it is coming in 2024. Most fans of the game will be hoping it will arrive sooner rather than later but we will have to be patient with Warhorse.

What is Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 About?

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be a continuation of the first game. The original KCD is the story of Henry and takes place in a small village in medieval Bohemia, where you play a blacksmith’s son who knows nothing about the world. Your life is helping your father at the forge and trying to court the local barmaid. 

Then an invading army attacks and wipes out almost everyone you know, including your family and girlfriend. You flee and end up on a quest for vengeance that sends you back and forth over a huge map, seeking those who killed your family and attempting to move up in the world. You become a squire and help the local lords defend their lands from bandits and Cumans.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its sequel are RPGs that rely on historical accuracy to make you feel like you are in the real world. If you drink too much, you will get drunk. If you don’t think before going into battle, you will die. Even if you have the best armor available and are fighting a couple of simple bandits, the fear of death is constant.

Warhorse wanted us to feel like every aspect of KCD was authentic and realistic.

We want you to feel the sword in your hand. We want you to feel threatened by the enemies on the battlefield. We want you to fight for your life.

How Big Will Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Be?

When it comes to the scale of the game, Warhorse Studios has said that the map will be twice the size of the previous game. The original KCD had around 3 hours of cutscenes and the sequel will have 5 hours. Considering cutscenes are not common or long, this could mean we are in for a massive action RPG.

Warhorse Studios is adding two new ranged weapons to the KCD. In the trailer, we can see that crossbows are coming, and a type of early firearm that looks like mini cannons will make an appearance. During the first game, we helped small lords with small problems. It was about small nobility. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be about the problems of kings.

We’ve proven the concept works, so now we can take it to another level, which is what we always wanted.

Warhorse Studios said that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is the game they wanted to create years ago but didn’t have the resources or experience. Now they do, they intend on making KCD2 everything they ever dreamed of.
