Lies of P has a hidden place called Hermit's Cave, which you won't visit during the main story. When you first get to Barren Swamp Bridge, you'll notice a gate to the right of the Stargazer. Beyond that gate lies a valuable item. Next to the gate is a character named Rookie Explorer Hugo. If you chat with him long enough, he'll say that he'll open the gate if you drop by often, but that's not entirely true – you need to follow a few extra steps to unlock it.
Here's how you can do it:

Talk to Rookie Explorer Hugo and have a thorough conversation with him to obtain a Cryptic Vessel.

Return to Hotel Kraft and give the Cryptic Vessel to Venigni.

Continue with the main story until you reach the top of the building infested with swordsmen in Collapsed Street.

Drop down to the side where you spot a fire-spitting puppet wandering around. Move past the puppet and grab the Special Krat Supply Box from the chest.

Go back to Hotel Krat and hand over the Box to Polendina.

Purchase the Rusty Cryptic Vessel from Polendina's updated shop.

Give the Rusty Cryptic Vessel to Venigni for decryption.

Return to the Barren Swamp Bridge Stargazer, and you'll see that the gate is now open.
And there you have it – the path to Hermit's Cave is now accessible.
