Marvel Rivals: Speculated Release Window, Playable Characters, Gameplay, and More

Marvel Games has just released the trailer for their latest project in collaboration with NetEase Games - Marvel Rivals, which is speculated to be released at the beginning of 2025.

The upcoming shooter game will feature some of our favorite Marvel characters, showcasing their abilities in 6v6 matches. Discover everything we know so far and what more you can expect from Marvel Rivals!

Marvel Rivals: Speculated Release Window

The closed alpha version of Marvel Rivals is set to be released in May 2024. You can sign up now on the Marvel Rivals website to access the trial version of the game. This will enable you to test all playable characters, maps, and mechanics. 

An official release date for the game has yet to be revealed, but it's expected to launch at the beginning of 2025. Additionally, Marvel Rivals will be available exclusively for PC. Currently, there is no information regarding its availability on other consoles or smartphones, at least for its initial launch. This is purely a speculative guess and it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Marvel Rivals: Gameplay & Mechanics

The Marvel Rivals trailer confirmed yesterday's speculations regarding the game's genre and gameplay. Marvel Rivals is set to be a team-based third-person shooter, featuring 6v6 matches. From the trailer, it's evident that the maps will showcase iconic locations from the Marvel Universe, including Tokyo in 2099 and Thor's home, Asgard. During battles, Marvel superheroes and supervillains alike will utilize their powers to gain the upper hand and secure victory.

The gameplay strongly resembles that of Overwatch, particularly in its emphasis on the clash of character powers and certain mechanics.

One exciting revelation from the Marvel Rivals trailer is the ability of certain characters to combine their powers to overcome their adversaries. For instance, we witness Rocket Raccoon climbing on his buddy Groot, enabling them to team up and launch a coordinated attack. Additionally, Doctor Strange is seen using his portals to teleport teammates to different areas of the map. These features significantly enhance our anticipation for the game, especially the prospect of experimenting with various combined attacks alongside our favorite Marvel characters.

Marvel Rivals: Plot and Storyline

The developer of Marvel Rivals NetEase gave us a brief description of the game's plot and story that we will follow:

The merciless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099 has forced countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, creating new worlds and crises still unknown. Now, superheroes and supervillains from across the multiverse must fight together and against one another as disparate groups seek to defeat both Dooms before one achieves domination of these realities.
