As revealed in trailers from Summer Games Fest and the SDCC panel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is teeming with antagonists for Peter Parker to confront. The game's narrative will feature at least three major villains, along with multiple minor adversaries.

Venom

Venom is one of the central antagonists in the game. The character made his debut in the first official teaser trailer, emerging ominously from a dark alley shortly after the exchange between Peter and Miles. Notably, Eddie Brock will not assume the role of Venom in this installment, as confirmed by creative director Bryan Intihar at the Summer Games Fest. Instead, it strongly implies that Harry Osborne will serve as the symbiote’s host, aligning with the storyline of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

Kraven the Hunter

Kraven is another prominent antagonist in Spider-Man 2. His character was unveiled during a ten-minute gameplay presentation at the PlayStation Showcase 2023. Kraven arrives in New York with a mission to take down various threats in the city, including Spider-Man himself and Kurt Connors, also known as the Lizard. The extensive gameplay footage indicates that he will be one of the principal adversaries in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Lizard

Insomniac Games has been discreet in revealing the complete appearance of Lizard in the glimpses we’ve seen. However, it’s clear that in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Lizard has undergone a menacing transformation, characterized by a multitude of spikes. This transformation is a far cry from the smooth-faced villain depicted in The Amazing Spider-Man. The character was first glimpsed during the extended gameplay footage shown at the PlayStation Showcase, where Kraven the Hunter pursued him while Peter Parker and Miles Morales attempted to intervene.

Grizzly

Grizzly is another iconic adversary in the Spider-Man universe. Fans got their first glimpse of Grizzly in a story trailer released at SDCC on July 21, 2023. He briefly appears in a combat sequence with Peter, where he demonstrates a more menacing appearance than his comic book counterpart, foregoing the bear costume for a fierce look.

Mr. Negative

Mr. Negative made a fleeting cameo in the story trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Martin Li played a significant role in the narrative of the 2018 Spider-Man game. However, it remains to be seen how his character will fit into the sequel's storyline.
