Metaphor: ReFantazio Story

The central theme of Metaphor: ReFantazio is the need for people to come together in order to choose a new monarch.

It is set in The United Kingdom of Euchronia, a country rocked by turmoil and upheaval following the king's murder. Then, on a tragic day, the Royal Magic, a magic known only to the king, is called on, drawing everyone into a royal contest for the throne.

Amidst all of this, the protagonist and his fairy companion, Gallica, need to figure out how to lift the curse on the prince, whom the kingdom considers to be dead. They set out on a voyage across the vast land to do this.

Protagonist

He is a boy from the Elda tribe, which the official religion regards as "tainted" since they think they have inherited a harmful and sinful power. Being so uncommon among the populous, they are reviled and discriminated against across the kingdom.

Gallica

Gallica is more than a mere traveling companion; she is also the guide who assists the protagonist in completing his objective to save the prince. Although she is too little to participate in combat, her fairy nature gives her a better understanding of magic and sense of magla than the protagonist. She doesn't mince words but is a calming presence on his path.

Strohl

He is a bright, young guy with a strong sense of justice who comes from a noble background. Nonetheless, it appears that his situation could be better, as it is unusual for nobility to join the army among commoners.

Hulkenberg

A knight of the Roussainte tribe and former member of the royal family's Kingsguard who fought with the prince. Despite her young age, she excelled at using numerous weapons and was appointed to the prince's personal guard. When the prince was attacked, she failed to protect him and went on to travel, carrying the shame of her failure in her heart.

Heismay

A former Eugief tribal knight. He has better perception than most others, thanks in part to the Eugief feature of being sensitive to sound. With a distinct appearance from other tribes, it is not uncommon for Eugiefs to face discrimination and Heismay appears to be no exception, his history becoming his own burden.

During the Summer Game Fest 2024, the developers released a new trailer and announced that Metaphor: ReFantazio would be available on October 11, 2024. The game will be released on most platforms, including PS5 and PS4, as well as Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
