Poppy Playtime: DogDay Backstory
DogDay is the reliable leader of the Smiling Critters, always there to support the rest of the members and cheer them up. He is very bright and takes his role in protecting the Smiling Critters very seriously.
In the Smiling Critters Cartoon, the critters have a sleepover at DogDay's house during a windy storm. Despite his fear of the wind, DogDay tries his best to hide his fear and calm down the other toys, showcasing his qualities as a strong and empathetic leader.

Poppy Playtime: DogDay After the Hour of Joy
DogDay was one of the clear opponents to the Prototype and CatNap's plan and ideals. We still don't know exactly what happened to him during the Hour of Joy, but since he doesn't appear on any of the tapes, we can assume that he didn't participate in the rebellion. His compassionate nature makes it unlikely that he would be involved in harming so many innocent people.

The voice messages we find in DogDay's cardboard cutout in Chapter 3 attempt to convince us to leave the factory. This indicates that he was aware of what was happening and was trying to protect not only his friends but also anyone who might be endangered. However, CatNap and 1006 likely saw his actions as a threat, leading them to decide to eliminate him.

This resulted in probably the most agonizing death of any of the Smiling Critters. In our previous article, we examined the deaths of each member of the group. DogDay was apparently the last living Smiling Critter, but at what cost?
CatNap and the Prototype cut off his legs and hung him on a pole as a form of slow and painful torture. It is honestly shocking how he even managed to stay alive for all these years with such significant blood loss and starvation.

When we meet DogDay in his prison cell, we engage in a short conversation with him during which he tries to convince us to escape the facility. Unfortunately, as he was speaking to us, the small Smiling Critters found their chance to enter his body and take control of it. Our interactions with the possessed DogDay end after we escape, and we don't know what happens to him afterward.

Poppy Playtime: DogDay Easter Egg
In the Smiling Critters Cartoon, we saw CatNap use his red gas to help the critters fall asleep. When they showed us the animals falling asleep, DogDay was lying on the couch right next to CatNap. The developers were giving us a clue with this video about DogDay's destiny. As you can see his position is exactly the same as when he is hung in the prison cell in Chapter 3.
