How to Rank Up Champions in RAID: Shadow Legends
Now that we know what food is it is time to go deep into RAID: Shadow Legends’ biggest grind, ranking up characters.
Ranking up characters makes them stronger by increasing their stats and levels. Each Champion in RAID can have a max of 6 ranks, also known as Stars, and to get more stars for your characters you have to rank them up.
To Rank Up a Champion you must first have them at the max level for their rank. The max levels for all 6 ranks are as follows:
- Rank 1 - 10
- Rank 2 - 20
- Rank 3 - 30
- Rank 4 - 40
- Rank 5 - 50
- Rank 6 - 60
Whenever a Champion reaches the max level for their rank you can go to the Tavern and head to the Upgrade Rank function where you will be able to Rank Up your Champions.
This is where the grind in RAID: Shadow Legends begins.
To upgrade a Champion’s rank you must sacrifice Champions or Chickens of the same rank as the Champion you are trying to rank up.
Note that Chickens comes in 5 Ranks to make the ranking up process easier, and are honestly a life-saver.
For example, if you are trying to upgrade a Rank 3 champion to Rank 4 you will need one the following:
- Three Rank 3 Champions
- Three Rank 3 Chickens
- Two Rank 3 Champion One Rank 3 Chicken
- One Rank 3 Champion Two Rank 3 Chicken
And now you’ve got your Rank 4 champion. However, if you want to upgrade this Rank 4 Champion to Rank 5, you’ll need either 4 Rank 4 Champions or 4 Rank 4 Chickens.
You can probably see where all of this is going.
This is one of the systems in RAID: Shadow Legends that takes a ton of time and for this, in this guide, we’ll show you just how you can save the most time when ranking up your characters.

How to Max Champions Fast in RAID
Now that we have the basics of what food is and how to rank up champions it's time to learn how to do it fast.
Honestly, the best way to Rank Up your characters is by having a ton of Chickens of each Rank and powering through everything, but not everyone has that amount of money.
For normal players, the best way to rank up champions will be by using other champions.
How this works is that we will be using fodder champions or champions that you won’t use for anything else except for ranking up other champions, and ranking up the hell out of them to boost your main champions.
To do this you will need to get a bunch of Rank 1 Champions from completing Campaign stages or using Mystery Shards in the Portal.
After this, we will be leveling these Rank 1 Champions in the Tavern.
NOTE: If you can try to match your summoning cycles with events. This way you will receive the most out of your summoning sessions.

Expert Tip: When leveling Rank 1 Champions in the Tavern use 1 Brew that has the same affinity as the Champion you are leveling. To level a Rank 1 Champion to the max level 10 you need:
- Affinity Specific Brew x1
- Rank 1 Champions Lvl1 x3
After you have leveled the Rank 1 Champion to the max level you then go to the Upgrade Rank Screen and upgrade its Rank to 2.
This concludes the easy and not-so-time-consuming part.

Now that you have your Rank 2 Fodder it's time to level them again to the max and repeat the process.
However, this time we won’t be using Brews as this takes too much resources, rather we will be leveling them up manually.
The best place to do this is Campaign Stage 12-3.
NOTE: Although the best stage for EXP farming is Stage 12-3 Brutal if you are a new player and have not unlocked it yet, you can safely farm the Normal or Hard versions of the stage.
After you have leveled up your Rank 2 fodder to level 20 you go back to the tavern, upgrade their ranks by using other Rank 2 fodder, and continue the process all over again until you get all the fodders to rank up your main Champions.

How To Max Champions Fast Quick Summary
The above is a big read, so for those of you who do not have that much time here is the abbreviated version:
- Step 1 - Get Rank 1 Champions, or Fodders, through Campaign or Summoning [NOTE: You can try and match your summoning sessions with summoning events]
- Step 2 - Level up Rank 1 Fodder to Max Level
- Step 3 - Rank Up Rank 1 Fodder to Rank 2
- Step 4 - Level up Rank 2 Fodder to Max Level [NOTE: Best stage to farm EXP is 12-3 on any difficulty, but Brutal difficulty is the best]
- Step 5 - Rank Up Rank 2 Fodder
- Step 6 - Repeat until the desired Rank has been reached
NOTE: You can also use Uncommon and Rare Champions to speed up the process, do not get confused by the idea that only Common Champions are fodders. However, there are certain Rare Champions that do great as main Champions so be careful before using them for fodder.

Also, it is worth noting that you can simply skip everything that we’ve written above and just rank up a Champion to the max by using Feasts.
