There have been several articles and reports of Riot Games hosting a brand new international tournament, similar to the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the League of Legends World Championship.
Given the popularity and sheer Esports dominance of LoL, it is only natural for Riot to further capitalize on its success and bring about a new international event for teams from all regions to compete in.
We will take a look at everything we know so far and examine how this could potentially affect the Regular Seasons of the major regions, specifically the LPL and LCK Championships.

New International League of Legends Tournament
Recently, a prominent Esports news outlet shared an article detailing the possibility of Riot Games hosting a new major international tournament in 2025. This could potentially disrupt the already established LPL and LCK Spring and Summer Splits, as the regions favor longer and more intense formats that allow for teams to get the most out of the competitive Esports scene.
Should Riot Games decide to host a third international tournament, this would possibly mean that changes will be made to LPL and LCK regions to accommodate a 3-split format, similar to the LEC currently.
At this time, the location and format of the tournament remain under work, but sources have indicated that at least one team per major region would be invited.
Given how the Mid-Season Invitational is between the Spring and Summer Splits and the World Championships is hosted after the Summer Split, this new tournament can be held between the Winter and Spring Splits.
Given that we still do not have any clear-cut information on whether these rumors are true, a spokesperson from Riot Games stated that an update should be provided in June regarding the League of Legends Esports Schedule for 2025. Hopefully, fans of LoL get the opportunity to cheer for their favorite teams on the international stage as that will certainly give us even more banger series between the best of the best.
