Since its initial launch in 2014 by Hi-Rez Studios, Smite has cemented its position as an innovator in the MOBA genre. In this game, players control gods, goddesses, or iconic mythical figures from various mythologies in a third-person battle arena, engaging in classic MOBA battles against other players, monsters, and structures. Smite is free-to-play and available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Amazon Luna.
Smite 2, a highly anticipated sequel among loyal fans, aims to modernize and remake the beloved game entirely. It will be built on Unreal Engine 5 and feature fully implemented cross-play, cross-progression, and performance upgrades. The game is currently speculated to be released into its alpha stage starting in May 2024. Following this the developers have mentioned that we can expect the beta stage in late summer 2024. The fully open Open Beta is expected to come around sometime in 2025. Below you can learn more details about Smite 2's release roadmap and founder's edition.

Smite 2: Release Roadmap
Steward Chisam, the president of Hi-Rez Studios, announced the full 5-stage release roadmap for Smite 2. He stated that while the exact periods are subject to change, the current expectations shouldn’t differ too much from the actual dates.
-
Small “Family & Friends” Tests: Currently, the game is being playtested by small groups of NDA-signed individuals, including lucky players, prominent figures in the scene, and parts of the developer team. These tests are short and occasional, lasting a few hours, once or twice a week.
-
Closed Alpha Stage – Release Date and Information: Starting in May, the developers will initiate the Closed Alpha Stage of the release cycle. Tests will last from 36 to 72 hours and will be conducted approximately once per month. The content will be limited, but the aim is to gather important feedback from players regarding the direction of development. Access to this early version of the game is available without being under an NDA if you have a key or have purchased the Founder’s Edition.
-
Closed Beta Stage - Release Date and Information: Starting in late summer 2024, servers will run continuously, making the game accessible to anyone with a key or a Founder’s Edition 24/7. Functionality will still be limited, but this stage will allow for increased playtesting and subsequent feedback from players.
-
Full Free-to-Play Open Beta: Following the 24/7 Closed Beta, sometime in 2025, Smite 2 will transition into an open beta free-to-play state. This means that anyone, with or without a key or a purchased Founder’s Edition, can access and play the game. While the content will still be more limited than the current-day Smite, the overall experience will be more fleshed out. More gods will be available compared to the closed stages, new onboarding systems will be implemented, and many more features will be introduced.
-
Fully Launched State: At this point, developers will announce the game as fully released. Smite 2 is a constantly evolving game, but reaching the official launch will signify that the game has reached a satisfactory level in terms of the roster of Gods, features, performance, and systems.
