Project Baxter Game Details
The article itself only hints at what the game will be with possibly even more information coming our way in due time. The name is an internal codename, meaning that it might not be the final title of the game, but we do know that it will be set in the universe of Dungeons & Dragons.
It is fascinating to see a studio trying to create a new co-op experience set within this fantasy world with the Payday franchise being one of the cornerstones of Starbreeze so it looks like we might get a taste of the same passion being put into this project as well.
As of now, we know that the game will be produced in Unreal Engine 5, it will include cross-play and will be launched on all major platforms, possibly referring to PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

When looking at prospective IPs for our future projects, Dungeons & Dragons was always at the top of our list and I’m incredibly happy to announce this license. I want to thank Wizards of the Coast for being such a great partner. Development of the game is in full swing, and we are excited to deliver an amazing Dungeons & Dragons action-adventure in 2026.

It seems that Starbreeze is looking to up the ante as Baldur's Gate 3 massive success this year proved to the gaming world that people are very welcoming to roleplaying games, and the studio is looking to add even more life to the franchise by turning it into a co-op multiplayer experience.

Final Thoughts
All in all, the idea of having a new game set in the Dungeons & Dragons world will be a riveting experience for many players who are seeking new adventures either with their friends or with strangers in a co-op multiplayer setting.
The digital landscape is filling up with more love for roleplaying games and given the success of Payday 2, and the current status of Payday 3, we might see a game that enhances your world-building and character creation by setting it in an environment that further emphasizes the importance of having a vivid imagination and having fun whilst adventuring through the unknown.
