Stardew Valley's 1.6 update has brought a lot of new content for players like Mystery Boxes. These items can be found while going about your daily tasks in the game, such as mining, fishing, or defeating enemies. However, a special variant called Golden Mystery Boxes offers even better rewards, but they require a bit more effort to unlock.

Unlocking Mystery Boxes
To start finding Golden Mystery Boxes in Stardew Valley, you first need to unlock the Foraging Mastery. This skill becomes available after you've reached rank 10 in all five skills with your character. Once you've achieved this milestone, head to Cindersap Forest and locate the hidden room inside the rock wall south of Leah's House and Marnie's Ranch.
Inside this room, you'll find a system left behind by your grandfather that allows you to earn Mastery Points. To unlock the Foraging Mastery and start finding Golden Mystery Boxes, you'll need to accumulate enough Mastery Points by continuing to use your skills in the game.
Finding Golden Mystery Boxes
After unlocking the Foraging Mastery, Golden Mystery Boxes will start appearing in similar locations to where you find regular Mystery Boxes. These include:
- Fishing treasure chests
- Mining rocks
- Defeating monsters
- Cutting down trees
- Breaking open crates

Opening Golden Mystery Boxes
Once you've found a Golden Mystery Box, you'll need to visit Clint's Blacksmith shop to open it. This process is similar to opening Geodes, and it will cost you 25 Gold per box. Simply select the "Open Geodes" option in the shop menu while having the Golden Mystery Box in your inventory.

Golden Mystery Box Rewards
Golden Mystery Boxes contain a variety of valuable items, some of which are exclusive to these special boxes. Possible rewards include:
- Book of Mysteries and Book of Stars
- Various crop seeds (Broccoli, Carrot, Corn, Pepper, Summer Squash, and Wheat)
- Deluxe Speed-Gro and Quality Fertilizer
