Is The Boys: Diabolical Cannon For The Boys Season 4?
The Boys has an animated show called Diabolical (2022). The show takes place in the same universe with the same characters, but it has been said that the show is not canon to the original series. However, a few episodes are said to be canon: Episode 6, Episode 7, and Episode 8.
This led fans to believe that some parts of Diabolical might be relevant to what's happening in the show now. In one of their videos, the ScreenCrush channel looks into a fan theory regarding Butcher's condition. As you know after watching the first few episodes of Season 4, after using too much Compound V, Butcher now suffers from terminal cancer. However, on numerous occasions, we see something like a worm moving underneath his skin.

On Reddit, a fan points out that in the last episode of Diabolical, a husband injects his dying wife with Compound V. However, unlike what we have seen in The Boys so far, the wife doesn't get superpowers; instead, the compound turns into a tentacle monster that can leave her body.
Now, if you think about it, in the last episode, we saw Hughie struggling with the same decision—whether or not he should inject his dying father. We are yet to find out what happens to him, but it might also relate to this episode of the animated show. However, what makes this theory even more believable is Butcher's scene from Episode 4. After he lost consciousness during his fight with Ezekiel, Butcher woke up to find the Supe's body torn to pieces. Fans speculate that whatever was moving inside of Butcher might be what did that, and it definitely sounds similar to the monster in Diabolical.

Disney Reference Joke in The Boys
As you know, The Boys makes many jokes about relevant situations and people from real life. In this episode, we saw a TV commercial about a Vought event called V52. Disney has a real event called D23, where they talk about their projects. The number 23 comes from the year when Disney was founded. The Boys used this as a reference for their event name since Vought was also founded in the year included in the name.
In the commercial, you can also see two characters from Gen V—Sam and Cate. They are mentioned as "Guardians of Godolkin," and their appearance in the later episodes has been teased in the Season 4 teaser trailer, but we are yet to find out what their role will be. It is possible that we will get some details about the Gen V story as well.

Tek Knight's Show & Gen V Easter Egg
Another commercial that was shown was for a true-crime show named "The Whole Truth," hosted by Tek Knight. He has been mentioned many times in The Boys and was a part of Gen V. You can also see him in the video game Ryan played in Episode 3.
Tek Knight's show will be talking about the events that took place in Gen V. The gruesome situation was blamed on Marie, Andre, Jordan, and Emma. It is always nice to see the direct plot bridges between the two shows as they will become more and more connected from now on.
As you know if you watched Gen V, after Homelander arrived at the scene and attacked Marie, we see her waking up in an unknown place together with the other framed students. We are all excited to learn more about what happened with Marie and her friends after the massacre.

Episode 4 Ending Explained
The most intense and nerve-wracking moments from this episode were definitely the ones when Homelander was in the laboratory. Homelander completed a full-circle moment, inflicting the same pain he had suffered on the people who did it to him. His return to "home" allowed us to learn much more about his character and how he came to be the way he is.
Throughout the episode, we saw different scenes from his stay in the laboratory where he killed various staff members. At the end of Episode 4, we see Homelander entering the elevator covered in the blood of the scientists. However, not everyone was dead. Barbara, who seems to have been the only mother-like figure Homelander had when he was young, was still alive but locked in the Bad Room with all the dead bodies of her colleagues.

As we saw, Homelander tortured and killed everyone based on their actions towards him. It appears he left her there to die, alone and locked in that room just as he was. It seems that this served as Homelander's therapy and might have unleashed any restraints he had from his emotional trauma. Let's see how that will change him from now on.
