Almost five years after we last heard anything of the critically acclaimed anthology series, True Detective is finally back for Season 4, titled True Detective: Night Country. The crime drama finds its home on HBO and HBO Max, which is where the new season can also be found.
Nic Pizzolatto’s hit TV series has made a name for itself with its Hollywood star power headlining every season, such as award-winning actors Mahershala Ali, Colin Farrell, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, and many more. This season is no different, because Jodie Foster plays Night Country’s lead character, Liz Danvers.
True Detective Season 4 Episode 1
The first episode of True Detective: Night Country follows Liz Danvers as she is faced with a puzzling new case of research station workers mysteriously vanishing in a small Alaskan town. Hints of the supernatural begin to emerge. We are introduced to the complicated relationships between the characters and begin to zoom out on the bigger picture, realizing there's a lot we don't know yet, and there's a lot they don't know yet, either.

What to Expect from True Detective Season 4, Episode 2?
Night Country's premiere episode laid the foundations of the characters, helping us establish who they are as people and what they stand for. It's an important part of building our trust in them and getting a sense of the harsh world they live in.
After the mysterious cliffhanger that Episode 1 left us on, it's only natural to assume that next week we will find out more about what they found, or, rather, who they found. It's a matter of time until more death emerges on the snowy surface, and Episode 2 will most likely bring us a step closer to uncovering what is actually going on.
True Detective: Night Country continues on HBO and HBO Max next Sunday, January 21, at 9:00 p.m. PT/ET.
