True Detective resurfaced on HBO and streaming platform HBO Max after a five-year hiatus, and the new Season 4 reminds us of why the anthology series is so highly regarded and enjoyed. With Jodie Foster in the lead role, playing Liz Danvers, an Ennis detective assigned to a mysterious Alaskan case, the season is looking quite promising, 2 episodes in.

True Detective Season 4, Episode 2
Following the events of the first episode, a chain of chilling discoveries out in the snow links back to the vanishing of a group of research station workers and the murder of a Native woman that happened years ago. The second chapter of Night Country continues to dig deeper into not only the connection between all the cases but also the connection between all the characters and how deeply their histories can be traced back.

What to Expect from True Detective Season 4, Episode 3?
Night Country’s first 2 parts weave the webs of each and every character together, showing how all of them are intertwined by a shared past. The lead characters, detective Danvers and detective Navarro, have many reservations and frustrations towards each other, but the connection between their cases, discovered in episode 2, forces them to work together once again.
The deeper the 2 detectives immerse themselves in the mystery of the case, the more forced they will be to overpower their differences, based on the direction the season is going in. It’s highly likely we can expect an interesting evolution in their relationship going forward.
The episode 2 finale left us with a hint of the supernatural influence that might be behind it all, so it’s possible to predict a subtle tone shift towards the middle of the season. A tone shift towards something darker and more bizarre as we make further steps towards uncovering the truth.
