Will Star Wars Outlaws Be Multiplayer?

Star Wars Outlaws is due to come out on August 30 and until then we will all be bursting with questions. There is so much we still don’t know about the first open-world Star Wars adventure. But let's focus on the things we do know.

You will take control of Kay Vess, a scoundrel mixed up in the shady business of the criminal underworld. She uses her wit and stealth to get her hands on things that people are willing to spend a lot of credits on.

Then she uses her blaster pistol to make sure they don't try and double-cross her. To get herself out of that life, Kay Vess will take on the biggest heist the Outer Rim has ever seen and there is much she will need to prepare for.

You will be traveling the stars, visiting different planets, and meeting some famous faces. Your ship, the Trailblazer, will not only let you jump from one planet to the next but you will engage in dogfights in orbit to destroy your enemies. The big question is if you will be able to do all of those things with your friends by your side. Will we experience any form of multiplayer in Star Wars Outlaws?

Will Star Wars Outlaws Have Multiplayer?

It’s not unusual for open-world games to have some multiplayer aspects in the form of co-op modes or online missions. Despite this, it looks like Star Wars Outlaws will remain a single-player game for the foreseeable future.

We’re currently focused on delivering a full single player Star Wars story that immerses fans in the scoundrel fantasy.

Sometimes having a storyline that is single-player and only affected by your choices and actions does build a level of immersion that can be difficult to obtain in a multiplayer environment. Massive Entertainment looks to create a story where you are alone in the galaxy and can trust nobody. Having other players interrupt that dynamic may be disrupting.

In the future, Massive Entertainment might create some way for us to share our experiences with our friends. It does look unlikely but we can hope. There are many difficulties in adding multiplayer options to a game designed for single-player however that does not mean it's impossible.
