Manor Lords is a new medieval city-builder that has quickly become one of the most anticipated games of 2024. It's already sitting at the number one spot for the most wishlisted game on Steam, beating games like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Hades 2. Manor Lords is launching in Early Access on April 26th, and it's not only visually impressive, but it also has all of the in-depth systems that you might expect from a strategy sim, including resource management, building, and combat.
One feature that we have not heard about a lot, however, is diplomacy, which is an integral part of the genre that usually allows players and NPC factions to forge alliances and make enemies, making the game a lot more engaging and replayable. In this article, we are going to answer the question of whether or not Manor Lords is going to have a Diplomacy system at its launch on April 26th.

Will There Be Diplomacy in Manor Lords?
Manor Lords will not have any options for diplomacy at its launch on April 26th. This was recently revealed by one of the developers from Slavic Magic in a Reddit Q&A post. They stated that there will not be any AI Lords to interact with on the map, except some scenarios in which you challenge enemy bandits and lords in order to seize control over their lands. Here is the full answer to the question from the post on Reddit:
Are there diplomatic interactions or alliances in Manor Lords?
There are no on-map AI Lords or other towns with which to interact at the moment in Early Access. At the moment, some scenarios have bandits you can clear, and there is an off-map AI lord you can challenge to control regions as the game progresses.

While the lack of diplomacy might be disappointing for some players, we can clearly see from the statement that there won't be "other towns with which to interact at the moment," which shows that this is a feature that is likely to become available in a later stage in the Early Access period. Without any diplomatic interactions, replaying the game might become stale for some players that prefer expanding and conquering regions as opposed to the regular city-building aspect. The game does have an interesting combat system, but like any other strategy game, the thing that makes battles memorable are the circumstances that force you into them.
Slavic Magic has confirmed that there will be a development roadmap close to the release of the game on April 26th, so there might be some information about diplomacy being added in the future.
