World of Warcraft Season of Discovery Phase 4 is looking very promising given all of the new content that is slowly being unveiled by the developers. Not only will players get to experience a revamped version of some of the most favorite instances in WoW Vanilla, but also new loot, runes, spells, and even a brand new world event.
The community has provided stern criticism behind some of Blizzard's decisions regarding world events, the PvP aspects, and the overall enjoyment players can have, and despite certain technical limitations, the dev team was able to overcome most of the challenges and issues players faced in previous phases. With that being said, we will take a look at everything we know so far about the upcoming Blackrock Eruption event that is on the PTR currently.

WoW SoD Phase 4 PTR: Blackrock Eruption Event
This world event will occur every 2 hours starting at midnight server time. Players will see additional spawns and even environmental hazards in the Searing Gorge. The devs stated that the event is planned to be expanded to Burning Steppes further down the line. Players will also gain access to new daily quests at Thorium Point.
During the event, players will see a significant increase in their honor gains. Conversely, players will gain no honor from world PvP while in Searing Gorge or Burning Steppes while the event is active.
Developer’s Note: The intention of this event is an optional activity for players to do each day to earn additional Thorium Brotherhood and Hydraxian Waterlords reputation should they choose to do so, as well as create a flashpoint for World PvP focused on the interior of Blackrock Mountain. We’ve listened to a lot of player feedback around world PvP and these types of events, and while PvP can and should occur on a PvP server, we are going to heavily incentivize you to move your conflicts inside the mountain itself while the event is active with a sizable honor buff inside the mountain. Ultimately, this content is meant to be a lightweight optional activity players can participate in to supplement endgame reputation gain and gain a bit of gold with very modest daily investment of time, as well as to give us a reason to recreate some of the epic battles that we all remember so well inside of Blackrock Mountain (as if we needed a reason!).

WoW SoD Phase 4 World Event Feedback
World events in World of Warcraft Season of Discovery have been a hit-and-miss most of the time as players not only reported unsportsmanlike behavior from the community, but these events also encouraged min-maxing strategies that sucked the fun out of the game.
Not only were certain classes complaining about how underpowered their abilities and runes were, but it it took Blizzard devs a substantial amount of time to fix all of the issues in the Stranglethorn Vale Blood Moon event.
Hopefully, the players playing on the WoW SoD PTR are able to provide adequate feedback to the devs to ensure that the new world event is not a total clown fiesta with players running amok griefing and decimating classes left and right. All in all, there is still a lot more content for Blizzard to bring to Season of Discovery so we will be patiently monitoring for more interesting news.
